puppy buyer interview
General Information
A few hours after being
born, the puppies have their first vet visit for a general checkup.
At three days old they see the vet again for dewclaw removal and tail
docking. Tails are docked at 40% of original length according to
the breed standard.
Lots of loving and handling begin immediately. We are using the
“Bio Sensor” method which is an early stimulation program (click
here
for more on this program). Their nails are trimmed weekly which
involves more handling (and lots of loving).
At three weeks, after eyes and ears open and the puppies become more
mobile, socialization begins. Lots of toys and bird wings are put
into the whelping box for the puppies to interact with. Individual
pictures of the puppies will be placed on our “Puppy Page” at frequent
intervals beginning at about 4 weeks. These pictures will enable
prospective buyers to make decisions as to which puppy they prefer.
The litter is evaluated at 7 weeks of age to determine the male and
female picks. Picks of litter are in order of deposits received.
However, competition homes will have priority of picks. Puppies
can go home at 7weeks of age after being given their first of a series
of vaccinations at 6 weeks of age.
